Each rpm unit fits 75 12" or 10" records with enough space to breathe and comfortably flip. Given that most reissues these days come in double-sleeve jackets and are pressed on 180gm, we feel 60 is a more accurate ballpark for a regular collection that also includes the occasional box-set outlier and a mixture of double- and single jackets.
You can also house 7" singles, but since the unit is built for 12" records we assume 7" records will be mainly a small sub-use of the rpms.
Personally, we like to rotate a batch of our collection and fill the rpm on a weekly basis to keep things fresh and to rotate through our catalogue finding long forgotten treasures, but that is just one use case. We'd love to see how you fill yours!
1. If you receive a damaged item, please contact us for an exchange. If you insured your item via Route, please follow those prompts.
2. In the unlikely event you have mechanical issues with your unit, please contact us as we will likely be able to fix it for you via simple directions over a call.
3. If you receive the unit but you don't enjoy it for whatever reason, we will accept your return within 20 days of receipt of your unit for a full refund only if the unit is in the same condition as when received. Custom orders are non-returnable unless they fall into categories 1 or 2.
We are using a very simple system that only requires 3 screws: Two large regular screws (or toggle screws if you drill into a wall or area of the wall that has no studs) that go through the french cleat affixing it to your wall and one small screw that goes through the unit itself in a predrilled hole as an additional earthquake safety measurement.
Our french cleat back-board makes the unit easy to hang as long as you have access to a local hardware store for screws specific to your wall, a leveler, a stud-finder, and an electric screwdriver. Like with any substantial furniture, we do recommend having a professional install the unit(s) for you.
We suggest installing the units flush-bottom waist height to mimic the experience one would have flipping through vinyl at a record store.
Please watch the installation video on the product page for a simple visual explanation.
We have decided to cut the middle men and operate as a D2C company allowing us to forward the cost savings on to you.
We work hard to run Toneoptic in the most sustainable way possible given our size and operations. We have a lot more work to do, which we will be able to once we are able to scale operations.
Currently, our EcoFelt record protectors are made of PET felt. Laser Felt Eco is a recycled material, 15 bottles = 1 Yard, 100% Recycled Materials. It is the cleanest, greenest, most versatile decorative textile available, made from 100% post-consumer recycled water bottles.A small part of the rpm, but it's a good start in the right direction for us. Your Kickstarter support will help us scale and spend further R&D money to run a more sustainable production.
We are in the process of selecting and joining a carbon offset program that will offset all of our products, many of which are being shipped around the globe and we are very aware of the impact this creates. We further plan some exciting up-cycling collaborations in the near future.
